Manhattan Bridge is a suspension bridge that crosses the East River between Manhattan and Brooklyn in New York. Manhattan Bridge is one of four bridges that cross the East River, the other three being Queensboro, Williamsburg and Brooklyn Bridge.
Construction of the bridge started in 1901, it was opened in 1909 and in 1912 the bridge was completed. Manhattan Bridge was designed by Leon Moisseiff. The bridge is 2089 meters long and has a main span of 451 meters. In 1922, an upper deck was installed.
The bridge has traffic on two floors. 7 lanes for cars and 4 for subways.
