The Queen Elizabeth II Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge that crosses the River Thames outside London. The bridge is part of the M25 motorway
Construction of the bridge started in 1988 and it was opened in 1991 by Queen Elisabeth II. When the bridge opened, it was the largest cable-stayed bridge in Europe until the Skarnsund Bridge opened in Norway.
The bridge was designed by the German engineer Hellmut Homberg
The bridge is 2,872 meters long and has a span of 450 metres
